Jacks travel to Rockingham in Week 16

The Jacks make their longest trip of the season on Saturday when they head down the Kwinana Freeway to the SafeRad Stadium, as we take on Rockingham City in Week 16 of the NPLWA.

After narrow losses against Sorrento in the league and Floreat in the Cup Final they will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in this one.

But they face a Rockingham side who have won back-to-back games for the first time this season under new coach Lee Taylor, with wins against Armadale and Gwelup Croatia.

Jacks’ assistant coach Callum Salmon said the squad is ready and focused for a big game against an improved Rockingham side.

“Everyone’s excited to focus on the league for the next four weeks before FFA Cup and move back up the ladder,” he said.

“We want to play football, the way ECU always do, and when we execute, we’re one of the best teams in the league.

“Rockingham has a top facility, great field and always a competitive game, especially with the new staff. They have improved heaps and won two in a row against tough teams. The crowd will be lively and our team will be ready to fight for three points.

“Also looking forward to having Ellis (Healing) and Ryan (Lowry) back very soon, both top guys and fantastic players, so we can’t wait to kick on for three points this weekend.”

Jacks’ Czech defender Jakub Prajza, has been outstanding in his first season at the club, and he said the Cup Final defeat is behind them and they are no concentration on the NPL.

“Saturday is an important game for us as we need to bounce back after a couple games that we have lost so it is time to get back to winning streak,” he said.

“It’s a tough league and we hope that teams in front of us on the ladder will start losing points, but we have to start with a win on Saturday.

“Rockingham is a tough opponent, but if we want to win the league, we have to beat them tomorrow.”
