Jacks host Perth Glory on Saturday

Football returns to the Campus this weekend when we host Perth Glory at the ECU Football Stadium in week seven of the NPLWA. (Please follow the Covid-19 restrictions and remember to stay COVID-safe)

Glory drew their last game against Gwelup Croatia in week five, while we are coming off a 2-0 win against Rockingham. Last week the snap covid-19 lockdown cancelled all football in the state, and Head Coach Kenny Lowe said it’s good to be back.

“It’s been a difficult week for everyone in Perth and Peel areas with the lockdown, and our league game at Balcatta and FFA Cup game at Olympic Kingsway both fell victim to that,” he said.

“But hopefully everyone stayed safe and we can know get back to life as normal, starting with Perth Glory on Saturday. They have impressed to date this season, and we will once again expect a tough and tight encounter.”

Striker Danny Hodgson was on target last time out against Rockingham City, his fourth of the season, and he said it was a good win, and with last week’s game cancelled it came at a good time for some first team players carrying injuries.

“A good win against Rockingham, but they sat back for 90 minutes basically,” he explained. “But there not the first team to do that to us and won’t be the last, but we still created a lot of chances and we could have won by a few more goals but we were happy with the three points.

“Last week’s lockdown was not ideal but we have a few little injuries so at least when we replay the Balcatta game, we might have a few more players available who weren’t last week.”

Hodgson said Saturday will be a good game, as Glory are a talented team. “To be fair to Glory it’s always a good game against them, because there only one of a few teams who actually try and play football and don’t just hit it long and sit back,” he said.

“We are looking forward to the game and try to keep our wining form going, I believe it will be a good game, and hopefully we can get another three points.”
