Both sides then hit the woodwork. Wild saw his header crash off the bar for United, before Kye Douglas did likewise for ECU. with Wild adding his second and setting off wild celebrations in the big Joondalup United following in the stands.

The game became stretched and looked set for penalties, but in stoppage time United won it. Wild broke free down the left hand side and his low shot beat Scott Wallis. ECU pressed for the equaliser, and forced three late corners but some more resolute defending from United meant that there was no way back this time.
