Inglewood next up for Jacks

ECU Joondalup will be looking to bounce back from their midweek loss to Gwelup Croatia when they take on Inglewood United in the NPWA Night Series at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium on Sunday evening. (7.00pm)

Inglewood have won both their games in the competition, scoring nine goals in their two games, and the Jacks will have to be at their best in this one.

It was an inexperienced side that were beaten in midweek, but the senior players will return for Sunday’s clash, and new recruit Nelson Tshongo said it will be another tough game.

“I think Inglewood have put together a good team under Andres so it will be exciting to see how we go against them,” he said.

“I think the key will be just for the lads to stick to the game plan which will determine which direction the game goes.”

It’s a first game for last season’s Jacks top scorer Danny Hodgson, who returns to the squad after a fishing trip away, and he is hoping to find the net more than the trip.

“It was a good break, but it was tough conditions, and I caught the sun more than fish,” he joked.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into it in the night series, and Inglewood have started we’ll so it should be a good game.”

Defender Ryan Lowry will return to his former club on Sunday, and he knows they will be tough opponents.

“We are looking forward to playing Inglewood this weekend. They are always a decent side so it will be another good test for us,” he said.

“We are looking to get back on good form leading into the season. The result didn’t go for us on Wednesday night against Gwelup, but it also gave the chance for a lot of our talented youth to play senior football.

“I thought especially in the first half the lads played some decent stuff and the experience is only going to benefit them in the future.”
