A week in football from the Campus

Posted on August 14, 2021 in 'News'

It’s been huge week of football at the Campus, and we are looking forward to more football over the weekend.

Our NPLWA first team were beaten for the first time in three games after a 0-3 loss against Perth Glory at Crazy Domains Stadium, Hartfield Park.

The Jacks created a number of chances, with Riley Woodcock hitting the post and Glory keeper Cameron Cook producing some great saves, the loss slip Kenny Lowe’s side down to fifth on the table.

In other games on the day goals Dimitri Phylactou’s 18s were beaten 0-2, and Mark Scanlan’s 20s were beaten 1-4. We are back in action on Saturday when we host league leaders Perth SC at the ECU Football Stadium – Kick off times, 18s at 11.00am, 20s at 1.00pm and First Team at 3.00pm.

Last week our Women’s State League Division One side made it four games without defeat after a hard fought 0-0 draw against third placed Sorrento at Percy Doyle Reserve. They will look to continue their good form on Sunday when they make the trip to the Securitas Protect Stadium to take on Mandurah City – Kick off 3.00pm.

Our Amateur women’s side produced a good performance but were beaten 3-5 at home by Northern Redbacks. Kiana White bagged a brace early in the game, and Royan Norman added a third to bring the side back to 3-3 midway through the second half, but two late goals from the visitors saw them leave with the points.

They will look to bounce back on Sunday when they travel to Carine Open Space to take on third placed Hamersley Rovers – Kick off 12.45pm.

In other Womens program games – ECU U12s girls took on Subiaco. “We travelled to Rosalie for a competitive game against Subiaco. On a poor playing surface as a result of all the recent bad weather it took time for the girls to adjust their style of play,” Coach Gareth James said.

“Over the course of the game they established a foothold and scored some cracking goals, with the highlight being a piledriver from Savannah Jameson to complete her hat trick.

Scorers this week were Savannah James (3), Daisy Snowden (2), Halle Snowden, and Emma Carter. This week they host Ellenbrook United at Prendiville College – Kick off 8.30pm.

The Masters North Division Three sides game were narrowly beat at home by Joondanna Blues. Igor Arsovski scored from penalty spot, and Rick Rancatore added the other, but it wasn’t enough.

This week they host Perth SC at the ECU Football Stadium – Kick off 3.00pm.

Our NPLWA junior sides played their fourth Divisional games last week. The 13s travelled to Joondalup United in Division One and were beaten 0-3.
The 14s took on Perth Glory away in Division One, and they were beaten 1-6, with Teddy O’Shea scoring the goal.

The 15s made the long trip to Mandurah City in Division Two, and goals from Rohan Patel and Roland Ballah saw them win 2-1.

The 16s travelled to take on Perth Glory in Division One and they returned with a 4-3 win, with goals from Charlie Grindley, Taylor-Phoenix Wright, Ryder Leasor and Abdullah Ali.

The NPL 13s, 14, and 16 were in State League Cup action on the weekend with all sides progressing to the finals – well done lads!!!!!!!!
