A young ECU Joondalup side have been beaten 4-0 by Floreat Athena in Week Three of the NPLWA Night Series at E&D Litis Stadium on Saturday night.

The home side held a narrow lead at the break but were too strong for the young Jacks side added another three to give them the win. The Jacks will be looking to bounce back next week when they take on Rockingham City at Frank Drago Reserve next Saturday evening.

Head Coach Kenny Lowe went into this game without Nick Koefler, Bayley Brown-Montgomery, Josh Whitmore, Ellis Healing, Tommy Amphlett, Roland Rixer and Ross Millard, and he brought in youngsters Danny Douglas, Luke Rhodes, Joe Pollard, Sonny O’Shea and Lukas De Lima and Ewan Fawcett

Floreat were ahead on 25 minutes, with Nick Ambrogio scoring after the Jacks failed to deal with a corner, but a strong defensive performance kept the home side at bay and the Jacks went in at half time only one behind.

But on the hour, they handed Floreat a second, a defensive error copped up the ball and Noah Shamaki punished them, scoring past Johnny Perkins. Floreat added a third on 76 minutes, after referee Steven Gregory pointed to spot after a challenge from Andy Higgins.

Perkins guessed the right way from Murray spot kick, but the young winger was quickest to the rebound to fire home. The points were wrapped up for Floreat three minutes from time, another defensive mistake gave the ball to Murray who raced through and finished well past Perkins.
