ECU Joondalup Under 20’s have reached the NPL under 20’s Final Series Grand Final, after producing the shock of the night in the Semi Final, beating the previously unbeaten Perth SC 2-1 at Percy Doyle Reserve.

“I’m really proud of my players tonight, what a performance,” Coach Rob Mahan said.

“The table at the end of the season doesn’t lie, and Perth were the best team and hadn’t been beaten.

“But the players went out and worked extremely hard, stuck to the game plan and we got our rewards with Sonny scoring the stoppage time winner.”

The Jacks were ahead five minutes before half time with Rene Kisesa scoring. The Champions hit back to level, with Luke Christie scoring on the hour.

But with penalties looming the Jacks won it, Kisesa’s corner was powered home by Sonny O’Shea. It went from bad to worse for Perth, who had Sebastian Gomez sent off after the final whistle. Jacks striker Dor Jok said it was a great win, and they are looking forward to Sunday’s Final against Bayswater.

“It was a very tough game and we obviously knew how hard we had to fight from the first minute without dropping off the intensity to much theirs which we did pretty well,” he said.

“We stayed on top of them for majority of the game and we definitely got what we deserved in the end. We’ll prepare well for Bayswater on Sunday and make sure we bring back the silverware back to Joondalup.

“They (Bayswater) have also been superb all season and we have to again match up whatever energy they bring to the game and also being more clinical in front of goals taking our chances early on in the game to kill the tie off as early as possible.

The game kick off at Dorrien Gardens at 2.30pm – Get along and support the Pride of the North.!!!!
