The Jacks bowed out of the NPLWA Night Series last week, despite a good 5-1 win against Rockingham City, but Head Coach Kenny Lowe was delighted the way his young side played on the night.
Lowe said the tournament has been a great way to get his message across to the players.

“We had nice wins against Cockburn City and Rockingham City, and we made Perth uncomfortable for 70 minutes, but we were touched up by Athena,” he explained.

“So overall we are tracking well at moment. We have had six sessions with the group, and everyone seems to be having a really fun time and enjoying the way we are going to play.

“It is exciting to play a style of football that the boys have embraced very very quickly, and they seem to totally enjoy. Early days but encouraging signs.”

Lowe said all their preparation is focused on the first league game of the season when they travel to Balcatta on March 14

“To be honest we’ve no interest in results for the sake of results, it’s all about helping the guys to improve,” he said.

“We want them to be busting to come down to training yearning to have a great time, smile have some banter and grow the laugher. We want it to be a really special enjoyable environment.

“We can never compete with the big clubs like Gwelup, Perth and Bayswater but we have a super group of guys and some quality youngsters coming through.”

Lowe said the squad on Saturday was a young one and he was pleased the way the players contributed to the win.

“Looking at the squad on Saturday we had a few young boys in the squad. Ewan Fawcett 18, Ben Hinshelwood 17, Kane McEwan 15, Jack Doyle 16, Danny Douglas 15 and Joe Pollard 15.

It was that bad I thought we might need a letter of their Mams to be out that late as it was a 7pm kick off,” he joked.

“ But the squad put in a super  performance and I’m really chuffed for all at club who are working so hard to make this project fun.”

The Jacks play their final Night Series game on Saturday afternoon when they take on Bayswater City at Frank Drago Reserve – Kick off 5pm
