After 28 seasons involved with ECU Joondalup Soccer Club Steve Wheatley has stepped down from the committee and his President role.

Wheatley said it was time to move on but he is excited by the new regime taking over. “Yes, after 28 years with the club, half of which were as president I felt it was time for a change, to get some new blood into the club, new ideas, new energy,” he explained.

“We worked to get the best result for the club and I think we achieved this by getting Jason involved. Also coming on board is Tom Durr, so I am confident the club is in good hands.”

Wheatley said he has many highlights in his time at the helm of the club, and to see the club’s youngsters blossom here and overseas is massive. “I’ve had many highlights have included winning the state league only seven years after we were formed,” he said.

“But the biggest thrill of all has been watching Rhys and Ryan Williams, Adam Taggart, Josh Risdon and Brandon O’Neill all progress from juniors at ECU to become full Australian internationals, brilliant.”

From everyone at ECU Joondalup Soccer Club thanks for everything Steve!!!!!
