Masters make it three wins on the spin

The Masters travelled to Sorrento FC and made difficult work of their 3-2 victory despite dominating the game.

The game started slowly until some fine inter-passing play released Paul Talbot on the right wing, who provided an excellent cross to Diego Garcia who coolly brought the ball down and slotted home giving the keeper no chance.

Shortly afterwards Scott Evans looked to craft an opportunity for himself on the edge of the box, beating 17 men before his shot was blocked and fell to the feet of Rick Rancatore who sweetly struck home from 20 yards to make it 2-0.

Sorrento made it 2-1 just before half-time, and the team re-grouped and introduced fresh legs for the second half.

Shortly after his introduction Wes D’Arcy put in an excellent cross for Mike King who also finished excellently to help regain the two goal cushion.  Sorrento gained a late consolation with a dubious penalty decision but the ECU boys held on for the 3 points.

In his post match interview Rick Rancatore said “A win is win, but with the chances we created it should really have been more. Sometimes you get days like this. The team still showed a good attitude throughout and it was great to see Pete Scrivens return from injury. Unfortunately there were no sweepstake winners today predicting the minute of his next injury, so there will be a rollover next week. As a result he’s currently at Joondalup Hospital undergoing blood tests enforced by Football West”.
