Jacks host Armadale in Week 11

Posted on June 1, 2019 in 'News'

ECU Joondalup return to the ECU Football Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on Armadale. (3.00pm)

Last week the Jacks were edged out 0-1 at Balcatta, and they will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday, but will come up against a strong Armadale side, who are also looking to kick start their season.

Head Coach Dale McCulloch said Saturday is a huge game and one he is looking forward too. “We will be looking to get back to winning ways Saturday, but we will have to be at our best against a good Reds outfit,” he said.

“Our performance in the second half at Balcatta was good, and we’ve managed to get a few players back from injury and hopefully a few more on Saturday, and it will be a home debuts for our new signings Billy Quinncroft, Charlie Kenna and Arran Maplestone.

“All three have settled in well and added experience to our squad, and hope we can kick start our season.”

McCulloch said the side are playing some good football but lack a little confidence at the moment, and he is hoping that changes on Saturday. “We’ve been playing well in patches in all our games this season, but we’re probably lacking a little confidence at the moment,” he explained.

“But we’ve trained really well this week and hope to give our sponsors and supporters a win and have a good second half of the campaign.”

Both sides go into this one on a bad run of form, the Jacks with only one win for the season, and Armadale two, and with only one point separating the two sides a win in this one is vital.

Armadale have added imports Uriel Marcias and Moez Aloulou to their squad and both have been cleared to play this week, but it’s at the other end that Armadale have struggled, conceding 25 goals, which is the second worse in the league.

Skipper Nathan Costello and Michael Lawson will be vital in this one, while keeper Sam Hutchings continues to impress, and John O’Reilly will be looking for three points in this one to turn around their recent form.
