ECU Joondalup Soccer Club would like to welcome Fiona Iredale to the club for season 2019.

Fiona will assist Technical Director Mark Scanlan in overseeing sports medicine and performance matters, and she will also be involved in injury prevention, treatment and management and will work alongside Regan Arrigoni in that area.

Fiona, is the mother of former ECU Joondalup and current Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton defender Jack, and wife of Jacks Senor side Team Manager Paul.

Jacks NPL Technical Director of Football Mark Scanlan is delighted to have Fiona on board. “We’ve recruited well both on and off the pitch for the upcoming season, and being able to have someone of Fiona’s expertise and experience come onboard is tremendous for the club moving forward,” he said.

“We’re hoping to strengthen the relationship with the university and be as professional as we can be in our junior and senior teams. Our aim is to have sport science students in place for every NPL team next season so Fiona’s recruitment will aid us massively in achieving this.”

Fiona, who is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, lectures in the areas of Injury Prevention and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation at Edith Cowan University and also leads ECU’s Exercise and Sports Science degree programmes. Fiona has extensive experience in the areas of injury prevention and management across multiple sports and levels.

In Fiona’s former sporting career, she represented New Zealand in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games in Judo and reached the quarter-finals. She also won a bronze medal in the 2000 Commonwealth Championships in Canada, and has been team manager of multiple New Zealand and Australian world championship teams. Welcome to the club Fiona.
