ECU Joondalup continue their preparation for the new NPL-WA season with a 5-2 win against last season’s Champions Bayswater City at the ECU Football Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

First half goals to Ross Millard, Daryl Nicol and Lukas De Lima gave the Jacks a 3-1 lead at the break, but two second half goals, including a 30-yard stunner from Nicol gave them a comprehensive win.

It was Bayswater who were ahead early, Johnny Perkins saved the first shot well, but Gian Albano fired home the rebound.

A couple minutes later the Jacks restored Parity, Ross Millard shot from 25 meters out beat the keeper, hit the cross bar, post then the other post and in, it was a cracking goal.

The Jacks were ahead when a good run from Daryl Nicol got him to the left hand side of the box and he smashed it hard and low past the keeper.

Then just before half time Lukas De Lima added a third. He broke with the ball and got to the centre of the box, and side footed shot home via the post.

It was 4-1 early in the second half, good combination play between Gordon Smith and a trialist put the trialist one on one with the keeper and he finished well.

Bayswater pulled one back when a long ball sent the Bayswater striker clear and he cut the ball back to Arran Maplestone who made no mistake at the back post.

But the icing was put on the cake late with a stunning fifth. Nicol got the ball wide on the right, before dribbling across the edge of the box and hitting an unstoppable left footed shot high into the back of the net.

The under 20’s were also winners, beating Bayswater City 3-0 with goals from Declan Hughes, Dylan Leonard and Ben Hinshelwood. The under 18’s were beaten 0-4 by Bayswater in the early game.
