Another successful season for the Jacks Academy

After another successful season in the ECU Joondalup Academy all our NPLWA and development sides have once again showed the skill and determination which our club has been famous for over the years.

It has been recognised with 16 ECU players selected in the relevant WA State side age group. Callum Piper, Kane McEwan, Shade Stewart, Joseph Pollard, Aidan Coyne, Daniel Katz, Oliver Makin, Taiga Matoba, Jay Patel, Toby Snook, Louis Hadfield, Sebastian Gomez, Matsuki Kondo, Josh Kingston, Jacob Evans and Reece Bantleman.

“Everyone at the club would like to congratulate all the players on their state selection who are traveling to Coffs Harbour for the National Youth Championships in late September,” NPL Director of Football Steven McGarry said.

“It’s an incredible feat to have 16 players across both the 13’s & 14’s state age groups, I think the quality and work ethic these players consistently bring to the training ground and match day reflect on their successful selection.

“It will be a new structure this year with both state representative teams and A-League two Star Academies all competing, so the players will have a bigger spectrum of talent to test themselves against. We would also like to congratulate Mark Scanlan our U20’s coach who will head the U14’s State team and I’m sure Mark and all the players will do themselves and the club proud.”

The success of our academy couldn’t be achieved if it wasn’t for the coaches, who put long hours to get their coaching plans and structures right and we as a club would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all their hard work this season.

The club wishes to thank the departing Gavin Knight, Willie Herd and Jesse Hesford for their help in maintaining ECU as one of the top Academies in Australia.
