ECU Joondalup Juniors traveled to Inglewood United last week in Week 7 of the PS4NPLWA

Results and comments below:

Under 12’s won 3-2 – Scorers: Gary Miller, Liam Powley and Oliver May – “Another solid performance from the boys, to maintain our recent form and they are looking forward to Sunday’s local derby against Sorrento.”

Under 13’s won 4-1 – Scorers: Phoenix Lee, Toby Snook, Mason Gallagher and Fletcher Ellerton – “Warm conditions and a tiny bumpy pitch made it difficult for the boys to play their normal passing game,” Coach Nik Silsby said. “We started well with Phoenix scoring, after a great team move, but shortly after Inglewood equalised. We regained the lead five minutes before half time with Tody on target. We scored two more after the break with goals to Mason and Fletcher. Our defence was rarely threatened in the second half, with the occasional long ball being played, which didn’t cause us any issues. It was another good team performance with everyone contributing to the win. But a special mention to Kane McEwan, who was playing against his former club. He was excellent all day and nothing got past him.”

Under 14’s won 1-0 – Scorer: Harry Fletcher – ‘The lads started the game very well and executed everything from the training ground to a tee. Unfortunately we couldn’t make all the possession count and were wasteful in front of goal going into HT 1-0 up,” Coach Jesse Hesford said. “Early in the second half was more of the same but we couldn’t put the game to bed. As in previous weeks we got sloppy in the last 10 minutes when frustration and complacency creeped in. Inglewood had chances to level the scores and thanks to some heroics from Sam Reilly in goal we held on to get the result and a clean sheet. Well done for the first half lads but can’t say the same for the second. Work to be done but this side will reach their full potential come the end of the season.”

Under 15’s Won 3-1 – Scorers: Noah Wittstrom-Lea, Lewis Tucker and Oscar Berry – Another sturdy performance by the team. Tough conditions on a very small pitch and another big physical side meant we had to work for the win. The boys played well in spells but didn’t react well enough on the tight pitch,” Coach Jesse Hesford said.  The lads know I’m not being harsh because a team of this quality needs to be switched on from start to finish and inject intensity into the match. Back to the training ground for the week and a derby match vs Sorrento to look forward to next round.

Under 16’s Won 5-2 – Scorers: Dor Jok 2, Ismal, Owen Snook, Daniel MacKenzie – “A well-deserved win – well done boys.” Coach Ross Kelly said.
