ECU Joondalup SC juniors were in PS4NPLWA and Football West action last week – Below are the results on another fantastic weekend of football from the youngsters. (Photo – Harry Moses in action for the 15’s v Subiaco)

Under 9’s North Socceroos v Joondalup United – Won 3-1 – Scorer Luka Harvey and Will Carter (first goal own goal). A tough game, top of the table clash, but the ECU youngsters remain unbeaten – Well done!!!!!!

Under 10’s North Blue v Balcatta – Won 3-0 – The 3-0 win against Balcatta was well deserved. An outstanding team performance saw ECU dominate the game throughout. Balcatta’s only shot on goal was well covered by GK Sonny Inzalaco. The back line kept Balcatta’s attack quiet all game with Rocco Watson playing an important part in defence with his organisation and strong tackling.  ECU’s midfield was outstanding with both defensive and attacking duties, creating numerous opportunities in attack. Liam Mayer was amazing on the wing with his best performance yet for ECU. Well taken goals from Roland Ballah, Oliver Evans and Will Ferson completed a successful day for the 10’s – By Coach Paul Inzalaco

Under 11’s North Blue v Quinns (H) Lost 5-6 – A cracking game, and the boys played well – but it wasn’t to be.

Under 12’s v Subiaco Drew 0-0 – Good test for the boys, and on another day we would have converted 2 or 3 of the chances we created,” said Coach Gordon Smith.

Under 13’s v Subiaco won 3-0 – Scorers – Jacob Evans, Kane McEwan and Toby Snook – “The 13’s came away from a visit to Subiaco with a comprehensive 3-0 win with goals from Jacob Evans, Kane McEwan and a sublime finish from Toby Snook.  The game started evenly and at a 100 miles per hour but once we settled and started to keep possession better and use the width of the pitch we gradually took control of the game and Subiaco were limited to only one or two chances for the game.  I felt we played some of our best football for a few weeks and every player contributed to the performance.  We move on to a big game this week against Perth Glory.  I’m sure i won’t have to say too much before the game as the boys will be up for this one,” Coach Nik Silsby said.

Under 14’s v Subiaco won 1-0 – Scorer – Aiden Coyne- “A clash against the then top of the table Subiaco saw us take away all three points. A narrow win earned with a rigid defensive display and a structured game from back through midfield. Although a great move was capped off with the winning goal the lads know we are lacking creativity and motivation in the final third. The weekly sessions have looked to rectify this and hopefully we will see a more convincing performance against the Glory this weekend,” Coach Jesse Hesford said.

Under 15’s v Subiaco won 1-0 – Scorer Harry Moses – “Another important result ground out by the side. A slow start allowed Subi to have a great chance early but we soon took control of the game and dictated proceedings mostly on our terms. The first and second balls could have been closed down and contested with more vigor and the midfield battle in turn was missing a punch. However we had clear chances which went a miss and it looked to be a wasted opportunity to stay in touch. We had said at half time if the scores stay level someone will need to grab the game and make something happen with five to go that’s exactly what Harry Moses did. He had stayed up on the half way line for a corner against and sure enough the ball was cleared and he was off on his bike. He received close to the touch line just keeping the ball from crossing the chalk, fending a defender off he fizzed the ball across the box and from the tightest of angles the ball sailed into the back of the net, 1-0. Well done Harry, great effort,” Coach Jesse Hesford said.

Under 16’s v Subiaco won 7-2 – Scorers – Dor Jok 3, Owen Snook 3 and an own goal – ” The boys are starting to come together and with a good run over the next few weeks could see us in a good position,” Coach Ross Kelly said.
