It was a busy weekend last week with ECU Joondalup SC junior PS4NPLWA teams, all involved in Cup and league games Saturday and Sunday, while the Football West sides were in league action.

Below are the results on another fantastic weekend of football from the youngsters. (Photo – Harry Blunt who was the scorer of four goals against Floreat in the league.)

Under 9’s North Socceroos v Quinns – won 5-0 – Scorers Atli Oskarsson 2, Henri Knight 1, Will Hocking and and own goal

Under 10’s North Blue v Bassendean Caledonian – won 9-0 – Oliver Evans 2, Callum Fleming 2, Kole Robinson 2, Roland Ballah, Jack Lawless, Henry Knight

“Another good display from the 10’s saw them beat a hard working Bassendean,” Coach Paul Inzalaco said. “The boys were rarely troubled at the back but kept their shape throughout. The midfield worked hard creating some great passing football leading to goals from, Roland 1, Oliver 2, Callum 2, Jack 1 and Kole 2 – Under 9’s Henry Knight, who was playing up also got on the score sheet with a fabulous turn and burst of pace to beat his man before slotting into the bottom corner.”

Under 11’s North Blue v Balcatta – won 2-1 Scorers – Will Brennan 2

Under 12’s Cup v Sorrento won 2-1 – Scorers – David Judd and Francis Ballah

Under 12’s League v Floreat Athena won 6-0 – Scorers – Francis Ballah, Liam Powley, Fabio de Abrrue, David Judd, James Martin and Louis Hadfield.

“A great weekend for the boys – two superb performances that set us up nicely for two tough games coming up against Subiaco and Perth Glory,” Coach Gordon Smith said.

Under 13’s Cup v Cockburn City lost 4-2 on penalties after it was 3-3 at full time – Scorers – Mason Gallagher 2 and Toby Snook

Under 13’s League v Floreat Athena won 12-2 – Scorers – Kane McEwan 5, Mason Gallagher 2, Jacob Evans 2, Matsuki Kondo, Phoenix Lee and Toby Snook

“A big weekend for the 13’s on the long weekend saw us exit the cup after penalties and a comprehensive victory against Floreat on Sunday in the league. On Saturday we travelled down to Cockburn in a game that was always going to be tricky.  We started well with a wonderful team goal after five minutes when Niall McKeon threaded a lovely through ball to Toby Snook who took the ball on before delivering an inch perfect cross to Mason Gallagher who volleyed home from 12 metres into the top corner,” Coach Nik Silsby said. “We dominated the first 20 minutes but a defensive error saw Cockburn equalise only for us to take the lead again from a Toby Snook goal.  We started the second half slowly and Cockburn took the lead with two quick goals after another two defensive errors.  We did fight our way back into the game and Mason Gallagher equalised with a lovely free-kick.  We dominated the last 15 minutes but couldn’t score from several good chances whilst Cockburn booted the ball up the park to their forwards and relied on the break.  However we went to penalties and lost 4-2.  Credit to the boys who stepped up and took the penalties. Another learning curve for the boys – we need to tighten up defensively and stop making silly mistakes.”

“On Sunday we travelled to play Floreat, and we started off really well and played some great attacking football despite the poor state of the pitch. We were 6-0 up at half time and increased this to 12-2 by full time,” Silsby said. “Goalscorers were Kane McEwan with 5, Mason Gallagher 2, Jacob Evans 2, Matsuki Kondo, Phoenix Lee and Toby Snook.  The only disappointment was conceding two late goals, however, overall it was an impressive display.  Callum Piper was promoted to the 14’s so it gave an opportunity for 11 year old James Martins from the 12’s to play the final 15 minutes and also have Joe Pollard make his debut for us after returning from Perth Glory.  He’s settled in really well and I look forward to working with him for the rest of the season.”

Under 14’s Cup Balcatta won 6-0 – Scorers Samuel Murphy 2, Cody Psalia, Massimo Bresciani, Jack Doyle

“A very well executed performance and great start to the cup. We came out the traps flying and dominated the game in the first half creating a host of chances and finally putting a high percentage of them in the back of the net. Just before half time there were two harsh cards handed out and both teams went down to 10 men,” Coach Jesse Hesford said. “The second half was played out at a slower tempo and with less structure but this was to be expected. A special mention to Massimo who was immense in midfield and has come on leaps and bounds in recent weeks. Well done to the boys for booking a place in the next round.”

Under 14’s League v Floreat Athena drew 1-1 – Scorer – Samuel Murphy

“Coming off the back of a good cup win the day before we expected to take that momentum into the league. Although we started the game well we didn’t attack with enough urgency and gusto possibly due to heavy legs from the day before,” Hesford said. “This though was the same for Floreat and the standards we bought into the game were not that of a team who was 100% concentrated on doing the job. We have a tough game vs Subiaco coming up and I believe the lads are eager to bounce back.”

Under 15’s Cup v Armadale won 3-0 – Scorers – Evan Gurney, Fraser Dunlop and Kade Fearnall

“From the off the boys played a great team game and moved the ball well. A few chances went a begging and the scores were locked 0-0 at halftime,” Coach Jesse Hesford said. “Second half the lads dealt with Armadale’s pace up front, defending resolutely and continued to push hard for the winner. We were much more clinical late in the game and finished the game off comfortable winners.”

Under 15’s League v Floreat Athena won 12-0 – Scorers – Harry Blunt 4, Lewis Tucker 3, Fraser Dunlop 2, Noah Lea, Evan Gurney, Kade Fearnall

“A few good individual efforts but a difficult game to take too much from. Credit to Floreat for continuing to apply themselves till the final whistle,” Hesford said. “Two top 4 clashes to come for the side who have been looking very sharp in training and have a lot they still want to prove.”

Under 16’s Cup v Armadale lost 3-4 – Scorers – N/A

Under 16’s League v Floreat Athena won 5-0 – Scorers – Daniel Mackenzie, Benjamin Gan, Charlie Lacey and Brad Rothwell.
