The new PS4NPLWA season is only one week away and ECU Joondalup will have their final friendly ahead of the opening round derby against Joondalup United when they take on Balcatta at the Irene McCormack Catholic College on Saturday.

The under 18’s will kick off at 10am, 20’s 12pm and the first team at 2pm. The squad was boosted in midweek with the signing of former Jacks defenders Jack Jones and Ross Millard, and both will be in the squad for the Balcatta game, while Jon and Andy Higgins will also be available after returning to training.

Jacks assistant Coach David Tough said it’s their last hit out before the Joondalup derby next weekend and he said the players are on notice and know they need to maintain a standard to keep their place in the starting eleven.

“Saturday’s game is the final hit out for us, and it gives the lads their last opportunity to make sure they are in the starting line-up for the season opener against Joondalup United,” he said. We’ll nearly have our full squad to pick from so competition for places is strong at the moment.

“It’s been a hard preseason and the boys have worked extremely hard. Our High Performance Coach Mark Scanlan had scheduled our training loads for the duration of pre-season so that we peak for the start of the season. Were one week out so we should be firing on all cylinders on Saturday.”
