ECU Joondalup under 18’s and 20’s have been draw at home to State League Two side Melville City in the 2nd Round of the State League Cup.

The games will be played the same day the Jacks first team play Morley Windmills in the FFA Cup – Monday April 17.

18’s Coach Dean Pickering said it should be a good game. “The cup draw is an exciting fixture for us, cup matches are always a great game and can go either way on the day,” he said. “Landing a home draw is an advantage but not one we will take lightly because Melville will be up and about for this game and we will have to be on our best day to get past them.”

The state league season kicks off this weekend, and 20’s Coach Mark Scanlan said it should an interesting tie. “We play an important league game at Bayswater on the Saturday, and it’s always a game you look forward to, they’re the defending champions and will give us a massive test,” he said. “But we’re looking forward to it and know we have to back it up with our first cup game on Monday. I’ve read that they have their league game on Thursday – meaning they get a big rest compared to us. But it is what it is, we just have to get on with it.”
