The 2018 season is looking rosy for ECU Joondalup Soccer Club, after the applications for their talented academy saw an overwhelming response, with all clubs squads now filled.

The selection trials have been a huge success with the number of applications being the most the club have received in the last ten seasons, and it continues the building blocks of the foundation of the club.

Last season saw senior players Lewis Italiano and Ryan Lowry head to Wellington Phoenix, while this season Jack Iredale has moved overseas to Greenock Morton, while former academy players Daniel Stynes has been signed by Perth Glory.

Last season the academy has also seen Ben Hinshelwood head to trials with English Premier League side Burnley FC, while Callum Piper, Sam Reilly, Sebastian Gomez, Aiden Coyne, Fraser Dunlop and Lewis Tucker all represented WA in National Championships in Coffs Harbour,

While Jay Patel, Jacob Evans, Fabiano De Abreu and Fletcher Ellerton have all been selected in the WA Schoolboys under 12’s squad to play at the Pacific School Games in Adelaide in December.

The club are working tireless to maintain the high standards, both on and off the field, in junior and senior ranks as we continue to build – “The Pride of the North”

First team Coach Dale McCulloch said the club are building nicely and he is looking for a big 2018 from the first team.

“Seeing the academy numbers gives everyone involved at the club a great lift heading into 2018,” he said.

“The work from everyone involved gives us a great platform, and yes it will be a number of years before some of these players get their opportunity in the senior side, but the quality coaches we have in our academy, will give them some of the best coaching in the state.

“Obviously the first team will be looking for a big 2018, and we will be hoping injuries don’t hit as hard as last season, but David, Steven and I are working extremely hard to bring success to this football club.”
