The ECU Junior were all in action last week in PS4NPLWA and Football West games below is a wrap of the games: Well done to everyone!!!!!  (Unfortunately we have been told by Football West – we can’t give scores for Mini-Roo games on our web site or match day programme)

NPL Junior Results last week – Round 16

Under 12’s v Bayswater City – Won 7-2 – Goals from James Martin (3) Liam Powley, David Judd, Fabiano de Abreu & Francis Ballah.

Under 13’s v Bayswater City – Won 7-0 – The 13’s came away with a good performance against Bayswater. On a small pitch we kept possession well and scored some unbelievable goals.  We tried a new formation playing 3-4-3 to further develop the boys and they adapted very well.  The back 3 were focused and disciplined and always looked to play the ball out from the back, the midfield 4 kept their shape well and moved the ball quickly and created plenty of opportunities for our front three who were mobile and creative.  We took the lead early on after a great half volley on the turn from Matuski Kondo which was quickly followed up by two goals from Kane McEwan who burst from deep and finished smartly.  Bayswater’s only real chance in the first half was brilliantly saved by James Barclay. This was followed up by a goal of the season contender from Toby Snook who lashed the ball home from 30 meters into the top corner.  Matsuki then claimed his second with another screamer from 25 metres into the top corner.  The second half started a little scrappy and Bayswater came out more determined but we scored our 6th from another long range effort from Toby and a third for Kane following a smart team move.  Good performances from everyone but Matsuki typified our performance with plenty of energy and quality with two goals and two assists. – Coach Nik Silsby

Under 14’s v Bayswater City – Won 26-0 (Jack Doyle 10, Massimo Bresciani 6, Aidan Coyne 4, Sebastian Gomez 2, Cody Psalia 2, Liam Silsby 1, Ollie Makin 1) Well done to the boys for continuing to play passing football from start to finish never letting selfish individual play slip into our game and a special mention goes to Jack Doyle on his triple hat trick.

Under 15’s v Bayswater City  – Won 14-0 (Lewis Tucker 5, Fraser Dunlop 4, Nathan Rhodes 3, Evan Gurney 2) Well done to the players who kept going till the end, leaving everything on the pitch regardless of the score line. Onwards to next week vs Armadale.

Under 16’s v Bayswater City – Won 3-1

Cup games from last weekend

Under 12’s (Cup) v Perth SC Div 1 – Won 3-0 (Forfeit)

Under 14 (Cup) vs UWA Nedlands – Won 1-0 (Jerome West): A well rounded performances the lads dominated possession but struggled with their end product. The winner coming from Jerome West just before half time and a few encouraging individual efforts for the semi-final in 2 weeks.

Under 15s (Cup) vs Melville City – Won 3-1 (Harry Moses, Fraser Dunlop 2) – The boys were told not to Underestimate the Melville team who we haven’t seen in action this season due to the spilt of NPL leagues. However in the first half we went switched on and conceded a sloppy goal from a free kick putting us behind. The boys realised they would have to earn progression and showed great character to score on the stroke of half time. Second half a different team came out and we took the lead 1 minute into the second half. We started to get into our stride as the game progressed and a good move lead to an easy finish to kill the game. The less we see the team from the first half and the more we see of the team that came out after the break the better.
