ECU Joondalup have been drawn in Group B for the upcoming 2016 QBE Night Series, which kicks off in January at five venues across the metropolitan area.

Group B consists of Stirling Lions, Sorrento, Balcatta, Perth SC and Armadale. We kick off the tournament against Balcatta on Sunday 31st Jan at Percy Doyle Reserve (7pm), before taking on Perth SC, also at Percy Doyle Reserve on Friday 5th February (6.30pm).

We’re back to the same venue to play Armadale on Sunday February 14th (5pm), before heading to Macedonia Park on Sunday 21st February  to take on Stirling Lions (7pm). In the final group game we head back to Percy Doyle Reserve to take on Sorrento in a local derby, on Saturday February 27th (8pm)

Coach Dale McCulloch said it will be a good work out for the season ahead. “We’ve been training three days a week since early January and we’re looking forward to a solid tournament and it will be good for us to see how our new signings fit in,” he said.

Over the summer the club have signed Steven McGarry, Gordon Smith, Josh Booysen and Shane Pickering, Jack Oldham and Jay Marsden to their roster and there may be a few more before the Night Series starts. “We’re talking to a couple of other players and we have a few training with us at the moment who have impressed, but we’re looking ok,” McCulloch said.

“The club has invested off the park to we have former Perth Glory performance Analyst/Sport Scientist Mark Scanlan as the clubs High Performance Manager, Regan Arrigoni and Yianni Louizos as physio’s, both were at the Glory last season, so we are lifting the profile off the park, it’s up to us to lift it on it.”

QBE Insurance is the new Night Series naming rights sponsor, while a change in the National Youth League fixtures has allowed Perth Glory to join the competition for the first time.

Inglewood Stadium, Dalmatinac Park, Macedonia Park and Percy Doyle Reserve will host group games with Dorrien Gardens selected as the host of finals matches.

Group A consists of 2015 NPL WA Champions Bayswater City who are joined by Inglewood United, Cockburn City, Subiaco, Perth Glory and last year’s Night Series winners Floreat Athena.
