ECU Joondalup return to the ECU Football Stadium on Saturday when they entertain league leaders Inglewood United in Week 11 of the PS4 National Premier League WA (3.00pm)

Dale McCulloch will be looking for his side to rebound from two disappointing results against Bayswater City and Cockburn City in the past fortnight. “Our last home game we had a narrow loss against Bayswater City, a game we dominated until Gordon Smith was sent off. We battled admirably and defended well but couldn’t take anything from the game,” he said.

“Gordon will learn from the red card, he let the side down, but he has been outstanding this season, and he is looking to repay the club with a good game on Saturday.”

The 0-4 loss at Cockburn was extremely disappointing and McCulloch said it’s been a long week at the club. “We have had a lot of soul searching this week after a disappointing performance against Cockburn City last week,” he said.

“Yes we had number of players missing, but it was the opportunity for other players to step up and show me they wanted the spot in the side, but unfortunately it never happened.

“We have a very young squad, and it was probably not the right way to go bringing in so many at once, but we have moved on and are concentrating on today’s game.”

McCulloch said Saturday’s game will be tough but it’s one they are looking forward too. “Inglewood have a very talented side and the table at this time of the season doesn’t lie, and they are on top of the table on merit and we will have to be at our best today, and we’re looking forward to  the challenge,” he said.

“We’ve had a good week on the track and a few new faces and we will be looking for three points on Saturday.”

Inglewood has a perfect away record this season, winning all five, but Coach Taki Nicolaidis said they need to improve from last week’s performance, and is expecting a tight game. “They (ECU) are always a tough team to break down and even though their results have been inconsistent this year they will be extremely hard to beat,” he explained.

In team news for Inglewood former ECU midfielder Scott Blackmore and Adam Tong are both serving a one game suspension, while ECU welcomes back Steven McGarry and Gordon Smith.

The under 18’s kick off at 11am, with the under 23’s at 1pm, with the first team taking the field at 3.00pm
