Jacks take on Cockerels in Week Ten

It’s week ten of the PS4 National Premier League WA and ECU Joondalup hit the road to take on Cockburn City at Dalmatinac Park.

The sides are level on points on the table, but the Jacks will be looking to bounce back after being beaten 1-0 by Bayswater last week, and Coach Dale McCulloch said it was a frustrating defeat.

“Last week was a lost opportunity for us, I thought we were on top when we had Gordon Smith sent off, and then it was back to the wall,” he said.

“To the lads credit we fought the game out well and I thought we defended superbly, but we came away with nothing which is disappointing.”

McCulloch said they head to Cockburn in a confident mood, and will be looking to bounce back. “We’ve worked hard this week on our shape and the lads are looking forward to a stern test at Cockburn,” he said.

“Scott (Miller) has them playing some good football, and it will be a good challenge, but we’re all looking forward to it. We know if we play at our best we can beat any team in the league, so the challenge is there for the players to go out and perform.”

The Jacks were beaten 2-1 at Dalmatinac Park last season, but last tasted victory there in 2014, when Danny Dixon scored a brace and John Higgins the other in a 3-1 win in Round 12

In team news for Saturday game, Smith, Steven McGarry and Keylun Pollard all miss the game due to suspension, and Hayley Orr is out after breaking his hand. Cockburn are at full strength.
