It’s been a frustrating three weeks for ECU Joondalup, with three straight defeats, but the form of midfielder Henry Durr has been a shining light.

The 20-year-old returned to the club from Perth Glory Youth side this season, and he has been outstanding in the middle of the park, and he said they need to reply quickly to put the last three weeks behind them. “It’s has been disappointing, but we’ve played some really good football the last couple of weeks, as well so hopefully we can keep building on that and turn these type of games into wins,” he said.

“I thought lasts weeks first half performance was class and was really confident we would see the game out and get the win but the second half was disappointing especially after being in the lead again. “

The midfielder has formed a solid partnership with Steven Walmsley and the pair have become the engine room of the side, and Durr is enjoying working with him. “I’m really happy with how things are going and enjoying playing alongside Stevie,” he said.

“I think we both complement one another so it’s been pretty easy to get the partnership going since the start of the season hopefully it will keep building.”

ECU Coach Dale McCulloch said the midfield pair, have both been outstanding and their pressure on the ball is tremendous. “Both Henry and Steven have been outstanding for us in the middle of the park, they go out there and get the job done without any carrying on,” he said.

“They are long stayers as well, they haven’t picked up any injuries (Touchwood), they just keep doing what they’ve been doing and that 100% effort, work really hard and both are very officiant on the ball.”

Saturday’s game against Balcatta is important, not only for the three points, but for the confidence of the player group, and Durr said they have worked hard on the track this week and he is looking forward to getting back to winning ways. “Everyone will be well up for this game given the last couple of week’s results.” he said.

“We can beat anyone in the league with the quality we have in our squad, so if we stick to what we’ve worked on this week I’m sure we’ll get the result were looking for.”
