ECU Joondalup under 18’s have started their PS4 NPL-WA season with a stunning 6-2 win against Perth SC at Dorrien Gardens on Saturday morning.

In their first game under new coach Steve Amphlett they were off to a perfect start with Harry Gent scoring after only ten minutes. They doubled their advantage on the half hour with Keylun Pollard scoring. But on the stroke of half time the home side pulled one back through Garley.

It wasn’t the best of starts to the second half for ECU as Perth levelled in the first minute through Healy. But that wasn’t going to stop the ECU youngsters and they retook the lead on 51 minutes through Nick Koefler and Jacob Jones added the fourth eight minutes later.  Joe Middleton added the fifth 10 minutes from time before Keylun Pollard added the sixth late on.

ECU under 18’s coach Steve Amphlett said all their hard work in pre-season was rewarded today. “I’m really pleased with the performance today, it was great result and the boys were outstanding,” Amphlett said. “We gave away a sloppy goal before half time and they scored again right after half time, but the lads’ heads never dropped and we continued to play the way we’ve been training and we got our rewards today, it couldn’t have been a better start to the season.”
