Serra ready for Armadale challenge

ECU Joondalup keeper Jamie Serra said they head to Armadale looking to bounce back from a disappointing game against Floreat Athena last week.

Serra has been outstanding this season, and was in fantastic form against Floreat, and kept the scoreline down, but he said the defeat hit all the players. “It was disappointing to lose, by such a big margin and the players were gutted after the game, but we need to bounce back on Saturday,” he said.

“We pressed them (Floreat) in the first half and did well to go 1-0 up but a couple of sloppy goals  cost us again, and in the second half we came out and weren’t up for the challenge and got punished for it.”

The keeper is expecting another tough game at Armadale, but said the lads are up for it. “We travel to Armadale, which again will be no easy task, as they have recorded some good results as of late,” he said.

“We have worked on some defensive structure and hope to eliminate the errors in which we are conceding. It will be good to test it against a side that is in a similar predicament as us this season.”

They head south without suspended skipper Jon Higgins and Paul Miller, but Serra said they have the players to cover their loss. “We will look to fill those spots as best we can but having two experienced players unable to join us certainly changes the dynamics of the team,” he said.

“But we are certain we have players who will fill the gaps and work hard for us against Armadale and we will be doing all we can to bring the points home.”
