After finishing third in the PS4 National Premier League under 15’s for season 2015, the ECU Joondalup youngsters have this week set off on their UK tour.
After impressing the Aston Villa coaches, during their visit to the ECU Football Stadium earlier in the season, the youngsters will train at the Aston Villa Academy for two weeks.

They will take on the Villa academy side, as well as West Bromwich Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County Academy sides during the trip, as well as watching two English Premier League games, and a private tour of the Villa Park Stadium.

ECU under 15’s coach Willie Herd said the tour is great for the young players to see how they go against international opposition. “It’s a great opportunity for our young players to see how EPL academies are run, and are relishing the chance to train at the Villa training centre,” he said.

“It’s a tight schedule for the boys, with games against some of the academies’ in the area, but it’s a magnificent opportunity to pit their wits against some of the best players in the UK.”

The youngsters had a good season in the NPL, and Herd said their third place was a fair result. “We played some good football during the season but just fell sort,” he said.

“At the end of the day the table doesn’t lie, and Subiaco were the best team this season and deserved to win the title, but we only lost four times during the season so I was really happy with the way we played, and look forward to an improvement next season.”
