The ECU youngsters created a number of good chances and went toe-to-toe with their EPL opponents for the rest of the half, but conceded a second on the stroke of half time.

After the break the experience of the EPL academy side shone through, and they finished the game the stronger and added four more goals

Even though the score line suggested the ECU youngsters were heavily beaten, the Villa coach praised the boys for their football and said that normally visiting teams lose by even bigger scores.

We all have to remember they are playing a Premier academy team, but the ECU side caught the eye of Aston Villa first team coach Tim Sherwood, who watched the first half, while the ECU players have also had the Villa academy coaches involved in the training sessions.

Despite the loss, the boys are in great spirits and looking forward to their other games against WBA, Wolves and Derby County.
