ECU Xmas Soccer Clinics a great success

The ECU Xmas Soccer Clinic was another great success. The kids really enjoyed the day and won prizes such as $50 Rebel Sports vouchers and Perth Glory tickets.

It was overseen by former Swindon Town defender Charlie Comyn-Platt. The 29-year-old who is a regular member of the ECU Joondalup first team in the National Premier League – WA, was delighted with the turn out and the way the kids enjoyed themselves. “It was the second season we’ve done the clinic and once again the lads enjoyed the sessions and learnt a great deal about the game, and they also had a lot of fun,” he said.

Comyn-Platt, who had a successful professional career in the UK, playing at Bolton Wanderers, Wycombe Wanderers, Swindon, Grays Athletic and Weston Super-Mare, is now passing on his experience in the game to the youngster at the club. “I’ve been in the game for most of my career and football has been good to me so it’s nice for me to give something back,” he said. “Our club (ECU Joondalup) has a great academy set up, which I’m really happy to be a part of, and anything I can do to improve the skills of the players is a bonus.

“We have had a great success of sending players overseas and being successful, so I’m hoping to unearth another gem from the number of talented youngsters we have at the club. I coached ECU under 15’s last year and I’m coaching the under 13’s this year and looking forward to starting with them this January. “
