ECU Joondalup v Armadale – PS4 NPLWA Preview

ECU Joondalup return home this week when they host Armadale in week 7 of the PS4 National Premier League WA at the ECU Football Stadium (3pm).

The visitors arrive with a new coach at the helm, with former Sorrento boss Paul Price appointed in the week, and they will also be searching for their first win for season 2015.

ECU Coach Dale McCulloch said he is hoping his players lift after a disappointing game last week. “I will be looking for a response from the players this week after a poor performance against Floreat,” McCulloch said. “Good teams bounce back from those sorts of performances and I’m confident that is what will happen on Saturday.”

McCulloch said training has been upbeat this week and the players are looking to get back in the winner’s circle on Saturday. “We had a chat on Tuesday at training and the Floreat game is now gone and we move on,” he said. “They (Armadale) will be desperate to get their first win of the season and impress their new coach, but we will be looking to improve our game and take the chances we’re creating and most importantly take all three points.”

ECU midfielder Joe Smith is expecting a tough game like all games are against Armadale. “I believe Armadale will be a tough test for us this week, as we know they are a hard working side, and are still very hungry for their first win,” he said. “The appointment of a new coach will also be a huge boost for them, and after seeing our result last weekend there will come here thinking they have a real chance.”

“Last weekend was pretty shocking. We did have the chances to grab a couple of goals in the first half but the bottom line is if you conceded four goals in the NPL then chances of winning are very slim. Overall it simply wasn’t good enough all over the field as a team and we are more than aware we have got to bounce back and put things right this weekend.”

In team Charlie Comyn-Platt pulled up sore from last week, but should be fit, likewise Armadale midfielder Caleb Aquano.
