ECU Joondalup are the 2015 PS4 National Premier League WA under 18’s Champions after a 4-1 win against Inglewood United in the final game of the season at Inglewood Stadium.

The ECU youngsters made the perfect start scoring after only four minutes, with Joe Middleton on target.

Going into the game there were five clubs who could still win the league, including the home side, but on 20 minutes ECU doubled their advantage.

James Owen’s deep cross was turned into his own net by an Inglewood defender, to put them in the box seat at half time.

Owen was on the score sheet three minutes into the second half to make it 3-0, but Inglewood were back in the game on 52 minutes.

Grant scored for the home side and ECU had Middleton sent off for a second yellow card, so the youngsters had their backs to the wall.

Inglewood through everything at ECU, but the ten men hung on and five minutes from time they sealed the win, John Hulme scoring.

It was a magnificent performance from the lads and with Coach Syd Amphlett away on business, stand in head coach Paul Welch was delighted with his chargers. “We knew a win would give us the title and the lads were up for the game and totally dominated the first half,” he said.

“To score the early goal after the break was ideal, but to concede and have Joe sent off but us on the back foot.

“But the determination and effort of the players today was magnificent, like it has been all season, and they deserve all the credit.”
