ECU Joondalup Academy Results – Week 11, 12 and Cup

The ECU Joondalup Academy teams were in action against Inglewood United in Week 11, and Perth SC in Week 12 of the PS4 National Premier League WA, as well as Smarter Than Smoking Junior Boys Cup games. Here are the results and coaches comments on the games.

 

Under 12’s

Brian McLatchie’s under 12’s busy schedule continued on Wednesday 10th June, when they played their 4th game in 5 days and finished with a 1-0 win over Bayswater at Wotton Reserve. “The only goal of the game came from Covey Smith despite a close result, we were never in any danger,” the Coach said.

On June 14th they had a 4-1 win over Inglewood United at home, with a brace from Covey Smith, and singles to Harry Fletcher and Daniel Faichney. “A mixed bag on the day with spells of good stuff and some pretty ordinary stuff,” McLatchie said.

On Saturday 20th June they progressed to the next round of the Smarter Than Smoking Junior Boys Cup, with a 5-1 win against Subiaco AFC at Rosalie Park.

Under 13’s

Charlie Comyn-Platt’s under 13’s beat Inglewood United 3-1 at home and then beat Perth SC 2-1, with Kade Farnell scoring in the first half and a 30 yard free kick from Nathan Rhodes in the second.

They were unfortunately beaten 1-2 by Perth SC on June 20 in third round of the Smarter Than Smoking Junior Boys Cup.

On Wednesday July 1 the Under 13’s travelled to Wotton Reserve and came away with a 1-0 win against Bayswater City. The winner came through some great football. Luke David crossed for Kade Fearnell to finish with a header.

Under 14’s

On June 16 the under 14’s played their round 3 catch-up game against Balcatta and ran out 2-1 winners. Goals coming from Ben Wensley and Fraser Horne, and Best on ground Morgan Cooper. “We started the night in great fashion very fast and furious pace lads performance was fantastic, deserved to finish 4 or 5,” Coach Willie Herd said.

They then took on Inglewood United and ran out 4-0 winners, with goals from Charlie Lacy Ewan Fawcett and two goals from Fraser Horne. “A good solid performance from the boys, and the team keeps progressing week in week out well done,” Herd said. “I’d like to thank Brendon O’Neill for his time and effort he’s been a great support for myself and the team he’s a great guy, and we wish him all the best in Sydney.”

They then beat Perth Glory 1-0 in the 3rd round of the Smarter Than Smoking Junior Boys Cup, with a goal from Blake Burgess, while Best on ground was Kieran Coyne – “Fantastic team performance against a very good Glory side the lads worked so hard it was a well-deserved victory,” Herd said.

Last week they were beaten 1-0 by Perth SC, Best on ground Evan Gurney – “Very disappointing performance today, they (Perth) came out running and fighting and we did not compete with that all day you can’t play like this against Perth and expect to win pull your socks up lads way below ECU standards,” Herd said.

On July 1 they took on Bayswater City at Wotton Reserve, and despite a great fight back in the second half but were beaten 3-2. Goals coming from Fraser Horne and Ciaran Bramwell.

Under 15’s

On June 16 the under 15’s played their round 3 catch-up game against Balcatta and ran out 4-0 winners. Goals coming from Miklos Imre, Luke Surtess, Liam Owen and Joe knight, with best on ground Kieron Craig. “The lads were fantastic  tonight, it was a great team performance the football was a joy to watch,” Coach Willie Herd said.

On June 20 they beat Quinns FC 4-0 in the 3rd round of the Smarter Than Smoking Junior Boys Cup at Gumblossom Park Goals coming from from Liam Owen 2 and Corey Hyde 2, best on ground Zach Welch. “It was a testing day, and the conditions made it very difficult but a good win,” Herd said.

They then had a 4-0 win against Inglewood United, with goals from Ollie Ford Luke salmon Zach Welch, and best on ground Liam Hudson. “Another great night of football lads were fantastic again couldn’t ask for fir anymore well done lads,” Herd said.

Last week they were beaten 1-3 at home by Perth SC. Kieran Craig scored the goal for the side and he was the best on ground. “It was a very good contest from two very good football sides,” Herd said. “We went 1-0 down to a very soft penalty, two down at half time from very bad defending. The second half was a different story we were very unlucky not to end up with a draw pulled one back and was just down to poor finishing that prevented the lads from getting a result.”

Under 16’s

The under 16’s took on Inglewood United on June 14 at home and were beaten 0-3, before In the cup they travelled to Hilton Reserve and came away with a hard fought 2-1 win against Fremantle City.

Last week they took on league leaders Perth SC and ran out 2-1 winners, with goals from Luke Rhodes and Joe Middleton.
