ECU Joondalup under 15’s ended their UK tour with a game against Championship side Derby County at the clubs Moor Farm Training Complex.

It’s been a massive tour for the young players, and they have performed well in all their games, and all the opposition coaches were impressed, and said they have played well. (Photo – ECU and Derby players after the game)

The ECU youngster were determined to end the tour with a win, and it was a great start to the game from Willie Herd’s side and they had the Rams on the back foot but failed to take their chances. Derby then took the lead, but Declan Hudson levelled mid-way through the first half, and ECU were then on top and had chances to lead at the break but again final to convert and the Derby keeper made some fine saves. Then in the shadows of half time the Rams hit the front.

The second half was probably the best half of football the young ECU side had played on tour and went toe-to-toe with the Derby side, but couldn’t find the equaliser. With ECU pushing forward looking for the leveller, they were hit on the counter attack and Derby added two more goals to run out 4-1 winners. The tour was a great experience for the players, and one they will remember, but this was the last game and they headed back to Perth on Thursday, with some special memories – Well played lads!!!!!!
