ECU Joondalup will be looking to get back in the winner’s circle when they travel to Dalmatinac Park to take on Cockburn City in week 10 of the PS4 National Premier League WA on Saturday.

Dale McCulloch’s side have gone four games without a victory, but the coach said they need to stay positive. “Football is all about up’s and down and we’re struggling with injuries and absentees, but that is no excuse,” he said. “We have to roll up over sleeves and get on with it, and if training is anything to go by we’re not far away from three points.”

They welcome back Ryan Lowry and Charlie Comyn-Platt to boost the defence, while skipper Jon Higgins and his brother Andy are also in contention. “We were a little naïve last week, and after taking the lead we let them back in the game and we were punished,” McCulloch said. “We have a great chance to put that right this week, but Cockburn have a talented side, but if we go there and play to our ability we will come home with a result.”

Cockburn City will also be looking to get back in the winner’s circle and City defender Devon Gibson is still expecting a tight game. “I feel we are lacking a bit of belief due to the good start of the night series and where we are today,” he said. “I hope we can turn it around this week against Joondalup, as they were always a good side but have also had players missing through this season with injuries or other situations. It will be a good contest for the boys to see where we sit half way through the season; anything can happen in football, it’s what team turns up on the day.”
