ECU Joondalup are the road this weekend when they take on Paul Price’s Armadale at Alfred Skeet Reserve, in week 18 of the PS4 National Premier League WA (3pm).

After last week heavy defeat, Coach Dale McCulloch says they need to dig deep and bounce back at Armadale. “We were all disappointed with the result against Floreat, but that’s in the past, we have to move on and stay strong, dig deep and put in a good performance against Armadale this week,” he said.

“The score line doesn’t lie, we were well beaten by Floreat, and to end the game with nine players didn’t help, but like I said, that game is in the past we move forward and look for three points on Saturday.”

ECU has been hit hard by injuries, suspensions, and players leaving the club, but McCulloch says that’s football. “We can’t make excuses, all clubs go through these problems sometimes, but we have some talented youngsters coming into the side and they are learning the hard way about first team football,” he explained.

“It’s good to give one player the opportunity in the starting line-up a week, but due to our situation we’ve given nine or ten players the chance, and to be fair they have been great.

“But they are still learning the game and hopefully they can continue their development, which will be good for the club in the future.”

In team news skipper Jon Higgins and Paul Miller will miss the trip to Armadale, due to suspension, and Charlie Comyn-Platt is still struggling with injury. Armadale will be without skipper Mitch Castrilli who is injured.
