ECU Joondalup are on the road again this week, and Coach Dale McCulloch is looking forward to Saturday’s NPL-WA game against Stirling Lions at Macedonia Park (3pm), and the chance to make it three wins on the bounce.

A cup win against Balcatta was followed by a good 3-0 win at Armadale last week, but the coach knows they will have to be at their best to come away with the points. “We’ve been consistent over the past two weeks, but there is still room for improvement,” he said.  “We stopped Armadale playing last week, and they really didn’t create that many chances, but we took our chances, which we hadn’t done in the previous weeks, and got our rewards.”

Stirling has had an indifferent season to date, but McCulloch knows the talent they have at their disposal. “Stirling has struggled somewhat this season but they have a number of injuries. They are now at full strength and after watching them last week against Perth, I know we need to be at our best, but saying that we are confident we can come away with a good result.”

In team news for ECU Charlie Comyn-Platt is struggling with injury, and will have to pass a late fitness test, but in better news Ryan Townsend and new signing Stuart Montgomery come into the squad for the trip.

Stirling will be without Phil Arnold who is overseas, otherwise they are at full strength and Gary Williams is expecting s tough game. “We are really looking forward to this week’s game. Our performances have improved over the last two games and the players are really keen to push on and apply some pressure on the teams above us in the league,” he said.

“ECU will not be taken lightly and will pose a threat to us on Saturday, but we have a renewed belief and confidence and we will look to get three points this weekend.”
