ECU to host Cockburn City in NPLWA opener

The fixtures have been announced for the inaugural National Premier League. It’s a new era in WA football and ECU Joondalup will take on Cockburn City in the opening game at the ECU Arena on Saturday March 8th – 3pm.

The Cockerels are coached by former ECU midfielder Marc Anthony and it will be a tough start for Dale McCulloch’s side. In week two Perth Glory travel to the Arena, while the first away game is in week three, when we take on Floreat Athena at the E&D Litis Stadium.

Over the course of the season, matches will be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights with nine games played under lights.

WA’s rich football history will be highlighted in special rivalry games to be played in round four and 15, when we take on Sorrento, and all clubs will celebrate their unique passion for football,

The first team finishing top of the table after the 22-round home-and-away season will compete in the NPL Finals Series against the winners from each of seven other Member Federations.

Member Federations from WA, SA, Victoria, New South Wales, Northern New South Wales, Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory and Queensland will contest NPL competitions this season.
