ECU Joondalup return home for Week Eight of the National Premier League WA, when they take on second placed Perth Soccer Club at the ECU Football Arena on Saturday (3pm)

It’s been a horror run for Dale McCulloch’s side, losing their last four league games, but assistant Coach Craig Stevenson believes the squad is back to full strength and they are ready for the big challenge on Saturday. “The past few weeks has seen us lose some key players to injuries, suspensions and holidays giving us the opportunity to blood some young players. We are proud here at ECU of our youth development and this year is no different with young players holding their own in the first team environment,” he said.

“This week we welcome back a few players giving us a close to full squad to take on Perth, who have a strong squad and have had a good start to the season. There are no easy games in the NPL and this will be no different, but the boys excited about the visit of Perth.”

In team news Tommy Amphlett, David Caine, Joe Smith and new signing Danny Dixon all come into the squad.

Perth arrive at the Arena after a solid 3-0 win on the road at Armadale last week, and coach Taki Nicolaidis is wary of a strong ECU line up. “For obvious reasons this is an important game for us to stay in touch with Baysie and consolidate our position in the league,” he said.

“ECU may be a bit out of form ATM but things can change very quickly and I’m expecting them to be a difficult opposition to beat especially with Townsend and Comyn-Platt at the back, and Danny Dixon will be very keen to impress on his debut”

In team  news for Perth, skipper Craig Simpson, Alex Castiello, Andreas Theodosiades and Clark Keltie come back into the squad, but Tim Robertson joins the injury list with Robbie Sciascia.

The under 18’s kick off against League Leaders Perth SC at 11am, while the under 20’s also take on Perth SC at 1pm.
