ECU Joondalup will look to get back in the winner’s circle when they host Balcatta SC in the quarter Finals of the Cool Ridge Cup at the ECU Football Arena on Saturday afternoon (2.30pm)

The home side are on a four game losing streak and Coach Dale McCulloch is hoping his side can turn that around this weekend. “We have had a disappointing run of form in the league, but we have also lost a number of players due to other commitments and injuries, which hasn’t helped us,” he said. “That’s no excuse I know, but we now have a full squad to choice from this weekend and we will be looking to progress into the semi-final of the cup, and turn our season around.”

Assistant Coach Craig Stephenson echoed the comments of McCulloch. “With some disappointing results over the last couple weeks we are aiming to put in an improved performance this weekend against a tough Balcatta side,” he said.

“To have a good cup run is exciting for the club and we want to progress further into this competition. Playing in finals is where the club wants to be and we have a great opportunity this year starting on Saturday.”

ECU will be without David Caine, and Danny Dixon, who is cup-tied.

Balcatta beat Joondalup 2-0 in round six of the National Premier League WA at The Arena. A goal in each half by Luke Randazzo and Gustavo Catarcione earned them the points on that day. In team news for the visitors, they will be missing keeper Clint Davies, who is overseas.
