ECU Joondalup have been drawn at home against Football West Second Division side Forrestfield United in the first round of this seasons Cool Ridge Cup.

The draw was made today at Football West headquarters in Maylands, and the game will be played this Saturday at the ECU Sports Arena with a 3pm kick off.

Joondalup Coach Dale McCulloch knows all about the cup and on the day if you don’t turn with the right attitude, you will get beat, and he will be reminding his players this week. “Saturday will be a tough game for us, as all Cup ties are levellers. I will be telling the boys they (Forrestfield) will have nothing to lose and everything to gain,” said McCulloch.

“They have picked up some good players, with the likes of Brad Eiffe from Floreat, Rhys Loxley from Armadale, Trent Wood from Swan and a few more. They will be looking for an upset, so we will need to be on our game from the first whistle”

The Coach will be looking for his side to rebound after a second half faded out against Sorrento last weekend in the NPL-WA. “We’ve had a good start to the season, but on Saturday we made to many errors and Sorrento punished us,” he said.

“Everyone who knows me knows I’m a winner and that defeat hurt, but I will be looking for a response from the squad this week at training and on Saturday against Forrestfield.”

The under 20’s will meet Forrestfield United at 12.45pm, while the under 18’s take on Balga SC at 10.30am also this Saturday.
