Stirling Lions v ECU Joondalup – Preview

ECU Joondalup are on the road this weekend, when they visit Macedonia Park to take on the in-form Stirling Lions (3pm)

It’s been a long week at the club, after the departure of Coach Salv Todaro, and midfielder Jon Stynes is looking forward to Saturday and putting in a good performance. “The lads trained well this week and focused on areas of our play we needed to improve, and we are looking forward to the game and to hopefully pick up three points,” said Stynes.

Steve Amphlett will be in charge for tomorrow’s game in a caretaker role and he has been delighted the way the players have trained this week. “We’re all looking forward to Saturday’s game,” said Amphlett.

“Although taking control of the team in unfortunate circumstances on an interim basis, the players have reacted well and I have received an excellent response from them in training. We were beat 3-2 at Stirling in the Cup only a few weeks ago so we know what to expect and we will be giving our best.”

Unfortunately on the injury front Amphlett has had to change his plans due to Shaun Timmins suspension and John Higgins is out injured. On the plus side Tommy Amphlett returns from a hamstring and the inclusion of Sandi Loncar and Veo Human into the squad has certainly added competition for places.

The Lions are second on the table, and are a nine game unbeaten run, but midfielder Scott Bullloch is expecting a tough game. “It will be a tougher game than normal with Syd back in charge for tomorrow. With a new coach brings the chance for players to impress and cement a spot so no doubt ECU will be raring to get to a result,” said Bulloch.
