Perth SC v ECU Joondalup – Preview

Posted on May 24, 2013 in 'News'

On Sunday ECU Joondalup visits Dorrien Gardens to take on Perth SC in week 10 of the All Flags Premier Division. (3pm)

Both sides will be desperate for the three points and Coach Salv Todaro, who will again be without a number of senior players, is looking forward to the challenge. “It’s going to be must win game for both teams. Everyone has aspirations to make the top five this year and a win would provide a vital three points to keep in touch with the teams that are currently occupying these positions, anything else and the gap starts to widen, which starts to make it very challenging,” said Todaro.

“The boys have been close over the last two weeks and extremely disappointed with the results and everyone knows the importance of the game and we are all up for it. Perth will have revenge on their minds as we beat them in the cup recently, but we will be ready for their challenge.”

In team news Dale McCulloch is unavailable due to family reasons, Matty Italiano injured an ankle last weekend, while Shaun Timmins is extremely doubtful. “It’s unfortunate to lose players but that’s football, so we will have to dig deep with the players that are coming into the squad, and who are chopping at the bit to make an impression,” added Todaro.

Perth striker Liam Boland believes Perth is getting close to their best form. “Last week’s loss at the Lions was tough to take; we’ve come away from the game with nothing, when I thought we played well enough to take a point at least,” said Boland.

“This week is a vital game and I believe we will win. We can’t afford to lose, and no disrespect to ECU, but we are at home and desperate for three points.” In team news for Perth, midfielder Clarke Keltie returns from suspension.
