ECU Joondalup v Floreat Athena – Preview

Posted on February 1, 2013 in 'News'

It’s week two of the Football West Night Series and ECU travel to the E&D Litis Stadium to take on fellow Premier League side Floreat Athena tonight. (8.30pm).

There were wins for both last time out and another three points tonight will take one team a step closer to the quarter-finals. “We had a good workout last week against Shamrock and tonight is another opportunity to provide some of the squad a run out against a good side,” said Joondalup coach Salv Todaro, who welcomes Jon Higgins and Michael Grigo into the squad.

Grigo makes his ECU debut tonight and he’s looking forward to it. “I’m excited for my first game for ECU, but I know Floreat is going to be a tough game but we will be up for it,” said Grigo, who joined from Mandurah City this season.

“They had a good win last week but we hope to get a result tonight, even if it’s the night series, we still got to give 100% and not slack off. ECU is a great club with a lot of talent, and a lot of young boys coming through which is good. The coaching staff are great, and the players are a good group of lads, as it is my first season at the club I didn’t know what to expect, but so far it’s been great and everyone has made me feel welcome.”

Get down and support the lads – kick off is 8.30pm
