ECU Joondalup v Bayswater City – Preview

ECU Joondalup entertain All Flags Premier League leaders Bayswater City in week 5 on Saturday at the ECU Arena. (3pm)

A 2-2 draw last week at Floreat Athena could have, and should have been a win for ECU but midfielder Shaun Timmons is hoping the side can put that right on Saturday. “We were all gutted last week not to come away with the win. To be honest it would have been great to take all 3 points but, we still have to take a few positives from the game,” Timmins said.

“Saturday is a great test for us but one we are all looking forward too. We don’t mind who we play, it’s just a game of football anything can happen, and we will be looking for the three points.”

Salv Todaro was pleased with the performance last week but not the result. “Last week we went to Litis stadium and the boys put in a fantastic performance. But once again I left the ground feeling a little dejected as our performance deserved the full three points,” Todaro said.

“There were some really courageous performances on the day by Dale McCulloch leading the team by example, Tony Taylor putting in another excellent shift highlighted by the opening goal, and then a great individual goal by Jon Higgins.”

Bayswater will be at full strength, while Joondalup will be without Tommy Jones with a broken hand, Matt Italiano and Andy Higgins are still missing. They do welcome into the squad new signing Steven Kidd from Adelaide Galaxy and former midfielder Jonathon Stynes, who has returned from the UK,

Bayswater have been getting the results but Coach Chris Coyne still believes there is room for improvement. “I still feel there’s a lot to work on, but I’m a bit of a perfectionist in a lot of things I do,” he said. They overcame Stirling Lions last week in the top of the table clash with Brian Farrell on target, and they head to the arena full of confidence.
