With ECU Joondalup not in action this week in the Premier League they arranged a friendly with Second Division side Joondalup City at the ECU Arena on Thursday night and draw 1-1.

Coach Dale McCulloch used an experimental squad with players from the First team Reserves and Under 18’s and he was happy with the workout. “We’re on a good run of form at the moment and I thought with it being the Cup Final weekend a friendly game would keep the players ticking over and give the fringe players and some of the reserves and under 18’s a chance to show me what they can add to the side,” said McCulloch.

In the game Joe Smith scored for ECU while Elliott Rose scored for City, and McCulloch believes the game will help in their final two games of the season. “Joondalup City gave us tough game that will help us in our last two games against Perth and Inglewood, and were looking to end the season with two good results,” he said.

ECU is back in league action next weekend when they entertain Perth SC at the ECU Arena on Saturday 3pm.
