Armadale v ECU Joondalup – Preview

Posted on May 10, 2013 in 'News'

After last week’s 4-1 home win against Balcatta, ECU Joondalup are on the road this week when they travel to Alfred Skeet Oval to take on Armadale (3pm)

The win last week moved Joondalup into fifth place on the table, two points ahead of eighth placed Armadale and Coach Salv Tadoro is expecting a tough game, but is hoping the side can continue their good form. “We just want to keep on improving and get more consistency into our game,” said Tadaro.

Last season Joondalup led 1-0 at half time at Armadale but were beaten 3-1, and Tadoro is looking for a reverse of that score line on Saturday. “It’s always difficult going to Armadale, as the ground is different from all other grounds, that is narrow and very long, and their supporters always give their team great support. But I’m confident that the boys are up for the challenge and keep our winning streak going,” said Tadoro.

In team news Tanner Selyer, Andy and Jon Higgins will be pushing for a starting role after recovering from injury, while new signings Ryan Lowry is pushing for a start also, so the coach will have a few selection headaches this week.

Armadale have started the season well, and are coming off a tight 2-1 defeat at Stirling Lions, and Coach Lee Bamber is expecting another tough game on Saturday. “We know it’s going to be a tough game, as Joondalup are full of confidence after some good results, and have some dangerous players that we will have to be wary of,” said Bamber.

“We have been playing some good football, but need to start converting our chances.”

In team news, Billy Quinncroft is suspended and Andy Todd Is still overseas. Jack Salter and Callum Potton are out injured while Dannie Richman and Cyril Sharrock are in doubt, and will have late fitness tests.
