ECU Joondalup v Bunbury Forum Force – Preview

This week ECU Joondalup and Bunbury Forum Force do battle in a vital game for both sides at ECU Arena (3pm). Joondalup coach Salv Todaro was disappointed the way his side has defended in recent weeks and is looking for an improvement on Saturday. “We defended poorly against Inglewood last week and were punished. We are playing good football in patches and were not getting the rewards we deserve at the moment,” said Todaro.

“Every game is a vital game for us, with the position we are in. We need to improve our concentration and tighten up our defensive game and keep improving as individuals and we will soon be back on the winning trial.” Skipper Dale McCulloch returns to the squad for the game, along with new signing Veo Human, who has joined from First Division side Swan United. But Scott Blackmore, Matt Italiano, Andy Higgins and Shaun Timmons are in doubt due to injury and sickness.

Bunbury are five points adrift of Joondalup and a defeat will see them slip closer to relegation. Coach Matt Holland is looking for an improved performance from his chargers. “I was disappointed the way we conceded the three goals at Stirling last week and we’ve got to improve soon rather than later,” said Holland.

“We lost the first game against Joondalup 2-0, and apart from some schoolboy defending in the penalty area we played well. We’ve now played everyone in the league so we know what to expect, and I’m expecting the players to step up this week and get the points.” Oliver McGee is still unavailable for the Force, but Craig Aldridge should be available after recovering from injury.
