With five rounds to go in the All Flags State Premier Division ECU Joondalup travel to Macedonia Park to take on Stirling Lions, and will be looking for all three points.

It’s tight at the foot of the table with only one point separating the bottom three, and Coach Salv Todaro knows the importance of the game. “Every game for the remainder of the season is really important for the club. We need to be looking at getting something out of each game, and Saturday gives us another opportunity to do that. After the result last week, we all need to bounce back this week,” said Todaro.

It often happens when you’re fighting for survival and the injury curse has struck the club this week, and Todaro will have a number of players unavailable for the big game. “Dale McCulloch and John Thornley were injured at training Thursday night and will miss this Saturday and Tommy Jones is suspended. Dave Calder, who was on the comeback trail also re-injured his knee and looks like he could be out for the rest of the year, so it gives the opportunity of someone else to come in and do a job for the team,” said Todaro.

Stirling will be looking for the points to push them closer to the top five. The Macedonia Park club sits in seventh place at the moment eight points adrift of fifth spot, and midfielder and skipper Andy Brown knows three points are vital. “Playing any club at this time of the year is difficult; teams are either scrapping for the title and top five or trying to avoid the drop. We will prepare and go into the game as we have done all season and will be looking for three points. It would be nice to give the fans a solid display at home and send them home happy,” said Brown.

The Lions welcome back Gareth McGlynn, Clayton Arnez from suspension and Matt Harold from injury. Michael Pugliese is in doubt due to injury, while Kyran Nunes, and Dennis Galan are suspended.
