Sunday 30th September – Top 4 Play Off – Semi Final – ECU  7-0  Inglewood United

ECU under 12’s secured a place in the play off final with a comprehensive victory over Inglewood at Macedonia Park, Stirling. They will now play Sorrento in next weeks final, see below for details. ECU were almost ahead after 30 seconds when Kieron Craig hit the post and were ahead after 5 minutes through the same player, Liam Hudson chased a pass down the right wing, put in a tremendous cross which Kieron headed home.

Soon after it was 2-0, a similar move involving the same two players, this time Liam’s cross went over the head of the keeper, the ball being just over the line before Kieron made sure but it was credited to Liam. Harley Curran then had a great long distance strike disallowed, with most of the watching crowd confused as to what for.

ECU were looking comfortable but Inglewood broke away and their forward was fouled in the area and the referee awarded a penalty, as the ball broke, an Inglewood player fired home but the referee stayed with his original decision to award a spot kick. The penalty was fired high over the cross bar and so the score remained 2-0 at the break.

Half Time – ECU  2-0  Inglewood

The second half was virtually one way traffic with Inglewood occasionally threatening on the break. It was 3-0 after Kieron volleyed home a far post cross, again by Liam, who was causing all sorts of havoc on the wing and then 4-0 when Luke Salmon finished well from close range.

Inglewood then created their best chance but ECU goalkeeper, Ed Cook, saved brilliantly from a close range effort. It soon became 5-0, Inglewood should have been awarded a free kick in their own area, the ball broke to Tom Eijgenhuijsen who struck the ball into the roof of the net. Declan Hudson turned in a loose ball to make it six and the final goal was one of the best of the day when Tom’s header released Kieron down the left, his cross was precise to Luke, whose finish was assured.

Full Time – ECU  7-0  Inglewood

This was another very good footballing display by the boys, their performances the last few weeks have been outstanding but this next weeks final against Sorrento will be a tough one.
